Fàilte romhaibh. Welcome to the
new, official, cask-strength Na Maragan Web site.
Na Maragan is the musical duo of Ed Bradshaw and Liam Cassidy. We
play our own originals as well as music drawn from the traditions of
Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man.
Na Maragan has performed in the Washington, D.C., area since 1996 at
venues such as the Alexandria Scottish Heritage Fair, Potomac Celtic
Festival and other events, including the U.S. National Mòd in
Ligonier, Pa. We’ve recently started a series of Friday and Saturday
night gigs at The Auld Shebeen, the newest Irish pub in Fairfax, Va.
(see Shows for details).
The distinctive sound of Na Maragan is based on the interplay
between tin whistle, acoustic guitar, harmonica and Scottish small
pipes -- although we also play the melodeon, Highland bagpipes and
shuttle pipes and break into song without warning.
Na Maragan is marked by its devotion to the Gaelic languages and
cultures of Scotland, Ireland and Man. Liam speaks and teaches
Scottish Gaelic and has studied Irish and Manx as well. Liam and Ed
sing songs in Scottish Gaelic, Irish and English.
The band also is known for its unique musical style, a blend of
traditional and contemporary sounds and rhythms. Think of us as a
musical haggis: a mix of tasty, occasionally unidentifiable
ingredients served in one steaming hot package.

repertoire, see the Music page.
